My Experience in the Building Industry

  • My family has been part of the building industry for over 25 years – from tradies to suppliers and builders. I’ve been immersed in this field my whole life and am very familiar with it.

  • I’ve also been involved in four personal home builds (five if you include my parents’ one while I was living there) so I understand how your clients in the construction industry think. Whether it’s talk about bricks or a colour palette for the interior of a home, whether it’s selecting appliances and fittings, or how to landscape the exterior, and when it comes to understanding all the trades that make a home, I’ve been there and done that (more than once).

  • I helped my husband run a business that measured the energy efficiency of homes, where I became very familiar with different materials and features and how they interacted with each other to achieve desirable outcomes for homeowners.

  • In addition to all of the above, I’ve worked with real estate agents to sell homes so I know what works and what just sounds like “real estate talk”.  Plus I can read house plans – very handy when you don’t have time to explain every feature of a home.

  • I have professional writing experience – I’ve loved writing SEO website copy for businesses, I’ve written listings for real estate agents and blogs for home builders. In addition to this, I’ve written several case studies and advertorials for building suppliers and engineers. I’ve also created social media Instagram strategies and Tone of Voice Guidelines to give business owners direction and clarity. In addition to all this, I’ve written feature articles for online news publications. This means I understand the importance of word limits and deadlines.


With an Arts degree (majoring in English Literature) and a Law degree, both from Macquarie University, as well as a Diploma of Teaching, my love of learning has a long history. These degrees not only taught me the art of research and excellent writing, they also taught me to think outside the box and instilled in me a thirst for constant improvement. This means I can apply these skills to your business to help you get ahead of your competitors.

I’m also a graduate of the Australian Writers’ Centre where I learned the finer details of copywriting. And I’m very proud to say I’m a student of Kate Toon, the queen of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in Australia so I’ve learned a thing or two about how to get your website noticed.

  2. I’m married and a mum to 3 boys which makes for plenty of running around.
  3.  I consider myself a foodie because I LOVE food and enjoy nothing better than a great meal out with friends. In fact, I love food so much that I have an instagram account devoted just to food. (@blogsugarsalt)
